It is imperative that employees continue to develop their knowledge and expertise in safety. The CTSP Council believes that the CTSP should continue to develop and improve his/her professionalism through constant learning and growth, teaching others, and implementing CTSP teachings.
Recertification
To maintain CTSP, candidates must obtain 30 CEUs during their three-year recertification period and submit a renewal fee every three years. Member Renewal fee is $145.00 and Non-Member Renewal fee is $290.00. (A renewal invoice will be issued a month prior to the renewal expiration date if CEUs are completed)
TCIA reviews submissions within three (3) weeks. Actual CEUs awarded may be different from the amount for which you applied. Please check back periodically to see the status of the items you submitted.
CTSPs must obtain CEUs in Two (2) Mandatory Categories:
- Continuing Education – minimum of 15 CEUs for attending safety meetings, seminars, workshops, or other training events. The CEU Request must be submitted with a completed Manager Verification Form OR Tailgate Training Log as the supporting document. Examples of activities that may qualify are:
- Attending a conference or workshop
- In-house training (weekly safety meetings, tailgate training sessions, etc.)
- College course: College courses are granted 10 CEUs per credit hour.
- CPR/First Aid course or other qualified courses
- Training and Program Development – minimum of 15 CEUs for delivery of safety training, seminars, meetings, and/or developing “safety program elements” (safety policy, written safety procedures, safety lessons, forms/checklists, manuals, etc.) or participation in the Safety Committee. The CEU Request must be submitted with a completed Manager Verification Form OR Tailgate Training Log as the supporting document.
ALL CEU submissions MUST include a completed Manager Verification Form or Tailgate Training Log as the supporting document. As of January 1st, 2026 we will no longer accept any other supporting documents. CEUs submitted without one of the below documents will be declined.
The event or training must be at least 15 minutes cumulative duration in order to be granted CEUs, and CEUs will be granted in 0.25-unit increments.
CEU Topics must relate to one of four CTSP program elements:
- Safety Leadership
- Hazard Identification/Assessment
- Hazard Prevention/Control
- Adult Learning
To Access your CTSP records, apply for CEUs or request a 6-month Extension if you cannot complete the CEU requirements before your expiration date:
- “Sign In” using your username and password.
- Click on “Hi, (your name)” in top right corner.
- Click on “My CTSP” tab.
