The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) is excited to announce the appointment of two new members to our Board of Directors: Mike Tilford, CTSP, of SavATree and John Smithmyer of Bartlett Tree Experts.

Mike Tilford, CTSP

Mike Tilford, CTSP, serves as the Director of General Tree Care for SavATree, a 35-year TCIA member company headquartered in Bedford Hills, New York. With nearly 20 years in the industry, he is highly credentialed holding designations such as ISA Certified Arborist, Municipal Specialist, Certified Tree Worker – Climber Specialist, and ITCC Head Judge and Gear Inspector.

Mike is passionate about safety and engagement within the tree care industry. As a Board member, he aims to tackle key industry challenges, including work practices, staffing shortages, and insurance concerns. Through increased outreach, membership expansion, and accreditation efforts, Mike hopes to help drive the industry toward greater success and sustainability.

John Smith Myer

John Smithmyer joins the Board as Mid-Atlantic Division Manager for Bartlett Tree Experts in Baltimore, Maryland. With 36 years of experience in the tree care industry, John brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to TCIA. Bartlett Tree Experts have been TCIA members for 86 years.

John will be filling Austin Bonnemma’s seat, as Austin has been elected Senior Director. John is eager to support TCIA’s mission by attracting new companies to the association while maximizing engagement among existing members. He is particularly focused on achieving TCIA’s ambitious ten-year target of 6,000 members.
