Learn and Collaborate with Fellow Leaders

The TCIA Peer-to-Peer (P2P) program connects fellow high-level staff and leaders in the tree care industry to help them collaborate, problem-solve, network, and share knowledge. It is the only one of its kind dedicated to supporting professionals in our industry.

Each peer group is a facilitated and self-governing gathering of company leaders willing to share their backgrounds, skills, and industry experiences around different business challenges. Together, participants develop strategies, solutions, and best practices for professional and business development.

Meet like-minded professionals from all over the country and make connections that last a lifetime.

  • Accountability

You can receive valuable business perspectives and honesty that you might not get from within your organization.

  • Fast-Track Learning

The value of on-the-job learning is hard to beat. Peer groups help multiply that intense type of learning many times over as fellow members share their experiences working through important issues.

  • The Safe Zone

Get the chance to talk through business challenges confidentially. When you sound out issues with your peer group, you can get answers that might have not been so obvious to you before.

Are you longing for a like-minded group of professionals to support you and your business?

What participants are saying about TCIA’s Peer-to-Peer groups

“Since joining the peer group, I have learned to lean on the group as a sounding board for new ideas. It gives you confidence to take risks you might otherwise not. And sharing your experience allows you to learn from the other leaders.” Trumbull Barrett, president of Barrett Tree Service East Inc., an accredited, 16-year TCIA member company based in Medford, Massachusetts.

“One of the best things is the friendships. I can get on the phone and talk to other peer members about work or personal matters. A lot of conversations happen outside the meetings. It’s knowing who to call for what, such as a health-care problem or a crane issue. It’s really that network that is valuable.” Chris Ahlum, president of Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation, an accredited, 52-year TCIA member company based in Columbus, Ohio.

“As a business owner, I am used to making the decisions myself,” he adds. “When you are in the peer group, you learn to listen to the challenge and formulate your own response. You just become a little more methodical in your problem solving. This is because you’ve heard eight other answers, which allows for self-reflection.” Tad Jacobs, CTSP, QCL, is president of Treemasters, San Rafael, California, an accredited, 15-year TCIA member company.
